A 3-Night Zen Yoga Retreat in the Welsh Mountains
Sometimes we simply need to step away.
Away from the rushing, the endless lists, the noise and the demands of everyday life.
To breathe.
To rest.
To reconnect with ourselves, with nature and with the simple pleasure of being fully present.
Join us for A Weekend to Breathe — a small, intimate Zen Yoga retreat in the beautiful North Wales countryside, where you can slow down, let go and allow yourself to be cared for.
Nestled amongst the Clwydian mountains, The Barn at Plas Ashpool gives us the perfect space to retreat from the outside world. With private woodland, beautiful walking trails, a wild swimming pond, cosy communal spaces and our own dedicated yoga studio, there is plenty of room to move, explore, relax and simply be.
And, because you won’t be cooking or worrying about what’s for dinner, our private chef will prepare delicious, nourishing meals and snacks for you throughout the weekend.
A Weekend of Movement, Stillness & Sound
Each day will offer a gentle rhythm of Zen Yoga, meditation, relaxation and sound, with plenty of time left open for you to choose how you spend your day.
Begin your mornings with mindful movement, breath and meditation, awakening the body and gently preparing for the day ahead.
There will be opportunities to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside, walk along the spectacular Offa’s Dyke trail, relax in the woodland, take a dip in the wild swimming pond, enjoy the optional wood-fired sauna or simply curl up with a book and a cup of tea.
As evening arrives, we’ll turn inward.
With meditation, deep relaxation and a soothing evening sound bath, allow the sounds and vibrations to help you release the day and settle into stillness.
And there will be sound to welcome you in the morning too — creating a beautiful rhythm of sound, silence, movement and rest throughout the retreat.
Nothing is compulsory.
This is your weekend.
Zen Yoga & Meditation
Our practices will be suitable for all levels, including those who are completely new to Zen Yoga.
Through mindful movement, breathwork, meditation and relaxation, we’ll explore ways to cultivate greater awareness, balance and calm — without striving or forcing.
You don’t need to be flexible.
You don’t need to be experienced.
You simply need to arrive as you are.
The Healing Stillness of Sound
Sound will weave gently through our weekend.
Morning and evening sound baths will offer opportunities to lie back, close your eyes and simply listen.
No effort.
Nothing to achieve.
Just the soothing resonance of sound, the quiet of the Welsh countryside and the chance to completely let go.
A Place to Breathe
The Barn at Plas Ashpool is more than somewhere to sleep. For our weekend, it becomes our own private retreat space.
We have exclusive use of:
- A beautiful, heated and fully equipped yoga studio
- Private woodland
- A wild swimming pond
- An optional wood-fired sauna
- Outdoor kitchen
- Fire pit and comfortable outdoor seating
- Deck terrace and outdoor dining area
- Spacious open-plan kitchen, dining and lounge
- A cosy snug — perfect for quiet time or optional massage treatments
The Barn has five bathrooms, four of which are en-suite, with wonderfully warm underfloor heating.
And when you’re ready to explore beyond the grounds, the spectacular Offa’s Dyke walking trail is right on our doorstep, with the beautiful Welsh coast around 25 minutes away.
Nourishment
Food is an important part of any retreat.
Throughout the weekend, our private chef will prepare delicious, wholesome meals and snacks for us to enjoy together.
No meal planning.
No shopping.
No cooking.
Just sit down, eat well and enjoy.
Because nourishment isn’t only about what we put on our plates. It’s also about giving ourselves time, attention, rest, nature and connection.
Come Alone. Come Together.
With only 10 places available, this will be a deliberately small and personal retreat.
You can come with a friend, partner or simply come on your own.
You don’t need to know anyone beforehand.
One of the beautiful things about retreating together is the connection that grows naturally when we share good food, conversation, laughter, practice and quiet moments.
There is no pressure to participate in everything.
No expectation to be anything other than yourself.
A Little Space for You
Perhaps you’ll walk.
Perhaps you’ll swim.
Perhaps you’ll sit beside the fire.
Perhaps you’ll sleep.
Perhaps you’ll laugh with new friends over dinner.
Perhaps you’ll spend an entire afternoon doing absolutely nothing.
All of it counts.
Because sometimes the most nourishing thing we can give ourselves is permission to stop.
To listen.
To breathe.
To come home to ourselves.
Come and step away from the everyday.
Breathe the fresh Welsh air.
Move your body.
Quiet your mind.
Listen to the sound.
Walk amongst the trees.
Eat well.
Rest deeply.
And perhaps, somewhere between the movement and the stillness, rediscover a little more of yourself.
A weekend to breathe.
A weekend to rest.
A weekend to reconnect.
